Winterfest in the Loring-Restoule region is an event not to be missed! It is a celebration of the winter season and the warmth of our community.
There are many exciting events planned for this year’s festivities and they range from Friday February 5- Sunday February 7. The various activities take place throughout our community and are open to everyone. Make plans to join in these family friendly events, sponsored by organizations in our community.
Winterfest is a northern celebration of our snowy season. This is a great time to connect with friends both new and old. If you are planning on snowmobiling through the Loring-Restoule region, this is a fun event to take part in. The Poker Run is February 6th from 10am-4pm. Registration is $15 per hand, and you must have a valid trail pass to ride the trails. To purchase your trail permit, please visit the Argyle Riders Website.
The Poker Run is an annual event that brings out snowmobilers from all over. As an added bonus there are Cash Prizes for the best ”hand” in the Poker Run.
Friday, Feb 5
7:00 pm, evening events sponsored by the Argyle Lions Club:
Euchre Tournament in the Community Centre in Arnstein
“Costumes on Ice” Family Skate at the rink, hot chocolate and prizes for best adult and best child costumes!
Saturday, Feb 6
8 am, doors open, coffee will be available
8 – 10 am, Horticulture Society will visit addresses of participants in the Snow Sculpture contest in order to determine winners located at the Argyle Community Centre in Arnstein
10 – 4 pm, Argyle Riders Annual Poker Run, entrants must have trail passes (Contact The Argyle Riders Snowmobile Club for more info)
10:00 – 2 pm, Activities for the Whole Family including Hockey Shoot Out, Snowman Building, Frozen Bubbles, Snow Ball Darts, Snow Driving Range AND Lion Gilbert Moore’s annual HAYSTACK HUNT ! Indoor activities to include Lions Pegboard, Trash & Treasures Penny Table, Lions Silent Auction, Raffles by the Horticulture Society and the Food Bank (donations of non-perishable food items would be gratefully accepted.)
11 am, Lions Canteen will open. Hot dogs, Hamburgers, Smokies, Hot drinks and snack foods will be available all afternoon for those who have worked up an appetite.
1 pm – closing, Lions Club Annual Hootenanny! Come on out and join the party!
2 pm, Snow Sculpture Winners Announced
5 – 7 pm, Pork Schnitzel Dinner at the Port Loring Legion, $12/adult, $8/child. Their pork schnitzel dinners are becoming legendary!
Sunday, Feb 7
2 pm, Build a Toboggan contest. Rules are simple, build your toboggan out of cardboard, duct tape, poster board or whatever else you can think of. No plastic, metal or wood please. Be creative. Prizes will be awarded, followed by a fun filled afternoon of tobogganing and hot chocolate! This will be held in Port Loring at the old Hotel hill on Wilson Lake.
